Hotel ibis has been constructed and transferred to the Customer
In Vilnius, the company MERKO has finished construction of the hotel ibis belonging to the company Orbis S.A. and transferred it to the customer Hekon UAB for the amount of EUR 8.7 million. The new hotel was constructed in the neglected area at the junction of Rinktinės and Šeimyniškių streets. Construction of modern residential houses and commercial premises, i.e. the project “Rinktinės Urban” implemented by the company MERKO, is coming to an end.
‘As it has been agreed, we have finished all works in time, i.e. on 30 June. The customer Orbis Hotel Group had no remarks on our works which included design and construction of the hotel and document handling. The quality of the building met the high AccorHotels hotel standards, this is evidenced by the technical acceptance reports,’ said Saulius Putrimas, the General Manager of Merko statyba UAB.
According to the interlocutor, this suggests that the quality of work carried out by Merko statyba UAB meets the requirements for the international hotel brands. Furthermore, before starting constructing the hotel, Merko statyba UAB had to design it according to AccorHotels hotel requirements, obtain all necessary permits.
The hotel ibis will meet the international sustainable building standard BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) which is evidenced by the original certificate “New Construction”, level “Good”. The final BREEAM certificate of the same level for the standard introduced during construction will be awarded in the short term. This is the first hotel in the Baltic States designed and constructed according to the highest international sustainable building standard BREEAM.
In pursuance of meeting the standard, in the course of construction particular attention was paid to safe and healthy working environment, personnel training on safe working procedures, the processes of mitigation of the adverse effect on the environment was organised. All measures ensuring soil, water and air pollution reduction were implemented, consumption of electricity, fuel and water in the course of construction was supervised and controlled. Construction waste was sorted in the construction site and in the waste processors’ territory, the quantities of processed waste were recorded and attempts were made to process as high flows of waste as possible so that they would not get to landfills. In pursuance of protecting the trees in the construction territory and near it, all recommendations of the ecologist were implemented.
When constructing the hotel, Merko statyba UAB applied the building information management (BIM) not only for design works, but also for construction works. As a result of use of this technology, all works were carried out fluently, without derogating from the schedule.
All materials used for construction of the hotel are modern and durable, intended for great flows of people.
‘The experience of Merko statyba UAB and our colleagues from Merko Ehitus AS group significantly contributed to construction of this object. In Lithuania, we have already constructed the hotels Novotel Vilnius Centre, Radisson Blu Hotel Lietuva, currently the hotel Neringa is being constructed. Our main customers are international hotel networks; thus, when carrying out construction for them we must observe not only the Lithuanian construction standards but also international construction standards,’ spoke S. Putrimas.
Ibis will be the first economy class hotel in Lithuania in which investments were made by Orbis Hotel Group, the partners of AccorHotels group. 164 rooms and a restaurant, bar and conference hall are equipped in the hotel. Opening of the hotel is scheduled this autumn.
300 apartments will be equipped in the complex of residential buildings “Rinktinės Urban” which will be soon finished near the hotel, business companies providing different services will be established in the premises on the first floors. It is planned to finish the first stage of construction works of the complex in the autumn this year.
