Balsiai school awarded with gold medal in “Lithuanian product of the year 2011” contest 12/19/2011
Balsiai school, which was opened only this autumn, was awarded as one of the best construction projects in Lithuania this year in the contest “Lithuanian product of the year 2011”, organized by the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists. More than 600 pupils go to Balsiai school.
“Rare projects, such as the most modern Balsiai school in Vilnius, is a very important event to many of us”, - said the chairman of jury of “Lithuanian product of the year 2011”, vicepresident of the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists Juozas Magelinskas.
The school is the first successfully finished PPP (Public Private Partnership) project from Lithuanian pilot PPP projects list. Moreover, the architectual project of the school is based on the best experience of Scandinavians, which are known as the owners of the best educational buildings.
According to the major of Vilnius, Arturas Zuokas, the architec of the school Sigitas Kuncevicius has made an exceptional project. The major has also promised, that in future schools of Vilnius will be built under this same project. Balsiai school is being visited not only by architects, but also by the pupils from ther Vilnius schools.
In the school, built by UAB “Merko statyba”, one can see eye catching two floor library space, bright classrooms, floor colored by the national patterns, one person sanitary rooms, arranged near the teacher classes. Most of the classes are with auxiliary rooms. Some of the classes are equiped with smart boards. There is an amfitheatrical classroom for chemistry and other exact sciences with electricity and water ports for every schoolchild.
There is a new type universal hall-canteen. It is a constantly open space, which can be easily reorganized to the space for performances. Pupils have their personal closets for things. There are two rooms for choreography in school. The main sport hall can be separated to two smaller halls.
The premises are ventilated by the compulsory air supply and elimination systems. There also is an automatic heating station and huge bicycle parking lot near the school.
The school is full of motion even after the learning hours: children are attending drawing, sports, drama hobby groups. All these activities are close to home, and this is the most imprortant thing for Balsiai residents. 1000 children, living there, needed this school very much.
Under the contract with Vilnius municipality, signed on July 13, 2010, Balsiai school was built by UAB “Merko statyba”.
